Feature:<\/span><\/p>\n

Pennant coralfish (Hatatateai) is distributed in the Pacific Ocean south of the Shimokita Peninsula, the East China Sea south of Nagasaki Prefecture, and the Indo-Pacific region. It inhabits mainly inner bays and coral reefs at depths of up to 30 meters. They have a rhombohedral body with two broad black longitudinal bands on the sides of the body. They do not form large schools and are usually seen alone or in numbers. The length of the body is 15~25 cm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because it is not a very tasty fish, its value as a food fish is low, and in Okinawa it is used only as an ingredient in fish paste products. It is popular as an ornamental fish because of its tropical appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n
