It inhabits sandy gravel bottoms at depths of 50~200m. The total length is about 40 cm. The body is laterally flattened and rather elongated, with an indistinct black spot on the dorsal fin. The body color is red, but the color differs between the sexes. Males are peach-colored and females are reddish-brown with several blackish-brown spots on the dorsal area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Akaisaki may be better known as a fishing target than as a food fish, and although it is named Chicken grunt (Isaki), it is a member of the Grouper (Hata) family. The taste is moderately chewy and has a less fatty flavor.
