Scientific name: Lepomis macrochirus Rafinesque, 1819<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bluegill originates from southeastern North America. It is found in Japan, central and southern North America, Europe, and South Africa through transplantation. The length of the bluegill is 15~25 cm. In its native habitat, it grows up to 40 cm in length. Body color is mostly purplish blue, becoming yellowish as it grows.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Japan, they are not edible because they do not grow large. Overseas, they are grilled, fried, or made into meuniere.<\/span><\/p>\n
