Characteristics:<\/span><\/p>\n

Whitesaddle goatfish (Houraihimeji) is distributed in the Izu Islands, south of the Kii Peninsula, and Okinawa Prefecture. It inhabits shallow reefs and coral reefs along the coast at depths of up to 40 meters. The length of the body is about 30-40 cm. The largest specimens reach 45 cm or more. The body is flattened and somewhat elongated. The body color is red or pale red, and the ventral surface is pale.<\/span><\/p>\n

Houraihimeji used to be one of the so-called unused fish, but it is now used as a substitute for Goatfish (Himeji) in French restaurants, etc., and has become a high-class fish.<\/span><\/p>\n
