Characteristics:<\/span><\/p>\n

Snubnose pompano (Marukoban) is distributed in southern Japan and the Indo-West Pacific region. It inhabits the lower layers of shallow coastal waters. The body length is about 50 cm. Its body color is bluish, but its ventral surface is silvery white. The body shape is similar to that of Harvestfish (Managatsuo), being rounded and strongly lateralized.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marukoban is distinguishable because of its ventral fins. It is rounder than the closely related Small spotted dart (Kobanaji) and has no black patches on the sides of its body.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marukoban is chewy and has a sweet and tasty fat taste. All parts of the fish have fat, and the taste is equivalent to that of striped jack (Shima aji).<\/span><\/p>\n
