Characteristics:<\/span><\/p>\n

Japanese meagre (Oonibe) is distributed in southern Japan, the East China Sea, and the Yellow Sea. It lives on sandy bottoms at depths of 50~100m. It is the largest species of the Nibe (Croaker) group, reaching more than 1.3 meters in length. The body color is uniformly grayish brown, and the abdomen is silvery white.<\/span><\/p>\n

The dark red meat (Chiai) is a beautiful red, slightly transparent, cherry-red flesh. It has a high water content and is tender, so it should be served as Kobujime. Of course, it is also suitable for meuniere, simmered dishes, and grilled dishes. It is not widely distributed in the market, so it isn’t easy to obtain, especially in the Kanto region.<\/span><\/p>\n
