French common name: Arrose verruqueuse<\/span><\/p>\n

Scientific name: Allocyttus verrucosus (Gilchrist,1906)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nigiri sushi detail: This species is not suitable for sashimi or nigiri sushi.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Warty oreodory (Oomematoudai) is widely distributed along the Pacific coast of Hokkaido to Ibaraki Prefecture, Australia, and New Zealand. It inhabits the deep sea at depths of 400 to 1,600 meters. It is about 30 cm long. it has larger eyes and a shorter dorsal fin than John Dory (Matoudai). Its body color is dark brown.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oilfish (Baramutsu) and Escolar (Aburasokomutu) are well-known for having a lot of wax ester in their flesh. Oomematoudai also contains a lot of wax ester, so the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has imposed conditions on its distribution, but it is not banned like Baramutsu and Aburasokomutu. The distribution of raw fish is prohibited, while the distribution of processed products is not a problem and the distribution of dried or paste products is permitted.<\/span><\/p>\n
