It inhabits the bottom layer from coastal to offshore areas, often forming small schools, with a body length of 30\u201340 cm. Its body color is dark brown. It is distinguished from other Aji species by the forward-facing scutes along its ventral edge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Catches are low, and larger specimens are considered a premium fish.
