Characteristics:
Blacknape large-eye bream (Tamameichi) is distributed south of Kagoshima Prefecture, India to the western Pacific Ocean. It reaches a length of about 50 cm. It is similar to the closely related Japanese large-eye bream (Shirodai) and Nakedhead (Meichidai).
Its flesh is moist and not so fatty, but it has a strong sweetness and a refined taste. However, it is rarely seen in markets and is an underutilized fish.
