Feature:
Japanese rubyfish (Hachibiki) is distributed in southern Japan, southern Korean Peninsula, around Okinawa, and South Africa. It inhabits coastal reefs at depths of 100~350m. The body length is 40~50 cm. It reaches a maximum length of 70 cm. It has a reddish-brown body color and is spindle-shaped.
It is seldom marketed because of its low distribution volume and unstable catch. It has a low reputation in the market. It is generally a very fatty fish, so it is good to eat it slightly seared.
