Characteristics:

Common cuttlefish (Europe kouika) is distributed from southern Europe to the west coast of Africa. It inhabits sandy or muddy bottoms at depths of about 50-100 m. The body length is 30 cm. It has a wavy stripe pattern on its back. The northwest African coast from Morocco to Senegal is its main fishing ground, where it is caught by trawling. It is mainly this species that is imported from Africa and distributed under the name of Mongoika.

Its meat is thick, tender, sticky, and sweet, and is suitable for sashimi, sushi, and tempura. Geso has firm flesh and is deliciously grilled.
