Characteristics:

Deepwater redfish (Okiakauo) is distributed in southern Greenland, Iceland, Spitsbergen, the northern North Sea, the southwestern Barents Sea off the Scandinavian Peninsula, and elsewhere. It is found at depths of 300 to 1000 m. It reaches up to 60 cm. It is difficult to distinguish between deepwater redfish (Okiakauo) and beaked redfish (Chihiroakauo), and they are generally referred to collectively as beaked redfish.
