Characteristics:

Devil searobin (Onikanagashira) is distributed south of Chiba Prefecture on the Pacific coast, south of Niigata Prefecture on the Japanese coast, the Seto Inland Sea, the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, and the coast of China. It inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms at depths of up to 150 m. The inner surface of the pectoral fins has a black spot below, with small blueish-white spots scattered among them. The total length is about 20 cm.

Onikanagashira is caught with other fish by bottom trawling and used for food. It is used in fish paste products as well as simmered dishes and is considered a tasty fish. However, it is small in size, has a low yield, and is not widely used.
