Remarks:
Red stingray (Akaei) is distributed in coastal areas from Japan to the Korean Peninsula and China. It inhabits sandy muddy bottoms and burrows in the sand. The body length is 1 m. The dorsal surface is brown, and the ventral periphery is orange-yellow. The spines on its tail are poisonous.
It is considered the most delicious stingray species. In Japan, it is mainly boiled, grilled, or fried. In French cuisine, it is eaten as meuniere.
